Chamomile Tealeaf was one of those miracle babies her parents had late in life when they had thought all their childrearing days were long behind them. Their first child, Violet Mint, a traumatic family tragedy when she chose to seek immortality in vampirism over family. To this day, no one in their branch of the Tealeaf family can bring themselves to talk about it.
Except that they do talk about how much they don't talk about it. Violet Mint would have been a teenager when Chamomile was born, but Violet was already off in her vampire life by then.
Chamomile grew up in the shadow of a big sister she never met. The big sister no one ever talked about, bit could never stop comparing Chamomile to. Because of the constant comparison, Chamomile's entire outlook is shaped by someone she's never met and likely never will.
As she grew up, she saw how Violet Mint's absence had left her parents so distraught. When she was just a child, Chamomile made a vow to herself that she would be everything that Violet Mint was not. And in doing so, she have turned out a bit more like her big sister than she'd ever care to admit.
She grew to be a devoted and dutiful daughter. Though like her big sister, her talents lay elsewhere than taking over her parents' trading coster. Being a scout for the caravans her parents ran is how she got her start.
And compare to her big sister's reportedly sullen moodiness, Chamomille is ray of sunshine. She has an unflappable optimism born from a lifetime of adhering to that childhood vow. She's been living to be the opposite of everything she thought she knew about Violet Mint, that now its second nature. Chamomile couldn't stop being bubbly and optimistic now if she wanted to. Though there is one thing she may share with her big sister and that's gritty determination. When the world fails to live up to her optimistic view, she's that much more determined to make it be that way.
Growing into the scout her parents needed for caravans, she saw much of the corruption and greed the rich and powerful will do when it comes to getting what they want when her parents' trading coster was sometimes one of the channels the rich and powerful used to get those things they desired. Chamomile is not above redirecting wealth to the more charitable needs of the poor when she sees fit.
