Peltarch: The Rebirth
-

The Danger
Through fire and blood, the city stood against the onslaughts of Jessica Whyte and the Zhentarim. Large swaths of the city burnt or demolished. Bodies littered the streets, whole families devastated or outright eradicated. Like any struggle, you submit and die - or you stand strong again. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Peltarch has chosen it's path, it is reborn. The city prospers once again, the families lost are replaced by new families from the eastern townships. The Districts and the labyrinth like sewer systems are rebuilt and expanded upon to accommodate the new population that has filtered in from the ravaged towns.
Rumours already begin to spread of new monsters and new dungeons below the city to explore. Excavated during the expansion of the city, the members of the Sewer Labourer Union are always looking for adventuring groups to help keep the sewer system clear. Several excavated areas are said to have delved into the Upperdark itself. Tales of the horrors below are already being told in every tavern across the city.
The Pissing Goat, once a Seafarer owned tavern with the seediest of sorts frequenting it, has been bought out by some new owner and completely renovated. The Labyrinth's Leap Tavern drawing in all sorts of the adventuring types, as they prepare to open the new main attraction there. A shaft leading down into an ancient Narfellian dungeon, recently unearthed during the last war. Whoever the new owner is, they have exclusive rights to exploit this dungeon, and own the only known entrance to it.
The Intrigue
New noble houses are vying for power, coming from the eastern fringes with the coin to back up their claim. They are seen as interlopers by the old Peltarchian families. They are here to carve their own path and they will become strong, or falter and fade into obscurity as they work with or against the age old nobility. Snydders, Borodin, Ashald - names that everyone in Peltarch know. Alongside smaller families such as Deadalus, Makere, Von Ulgath, and many other families who have come out of the war unscathed and stronger than ever. They have begun to secure new business endeavors to strengthen their claims with the arrival of these new families.
The city itself has expanded. The Docks District population has grown almost three times the size of what it was, two new Districts are still under construction and sealed off by the Guard. Seafarers have control of the western Docks, while the central and eastern Docks will house the Guildhalls of the Wavebreakers and the Black Sails. Only those who are building their homes or halls in these new Districts are allowed to pass.
The Royal Family, in cooperation with the nobility who remain in the city, have constructed a new Nobility District, full of their estates and even the new Royal Palace. The lesser peasants of the city are frowned upon in this District, the Guard and Defenders have heavily secured the District to not only keep out troublemakers, but also to help keep the Royal Palace secure.
The Power
The city and it's military have been rebuilding since the war and new Headquarters have been built to house some military divisions. The Defenders Headquarters in the Commerce District and the Cerulean Headquarters in the Residential District. The Far Scouts offices in the Commerce District and several new Guard buildings throughout all the Districts.
As the military nears completion on it's restructuring, whispers begin to already spread that there might be war looming on the horizon again. Some whisper Moonreach, others High Hold, and more speak about an offensive against the giants on the beach, to finally push them off the road. The ever-present kobold and lizardman threat to the east also lingers in the back of everyone's mind. The emergence of new threats to the east, beyond the farmlands have helped bring in more and more adventurers to the city.
Cerulean patrols, accompanied by specialized workers like engineers and architects, are seen heading west along the road and into the mountains, their wagons laden with supplies. Upon return, these wagons are quickly loaded and sent out west along the road once again, their destination and purpose unknown.
Whatever the future holds, the new age of Peltarch has begun.
(I unfortunately have to work tomorrow until 3pm EST. So if you explore the new Peltarch, try not to see it all without me watching lol. As always, please make suggestions for changes. Stores items, maps needing tweaking, anything! Also, enjoy!)
