Charges Against the "Golden Geese"
-
Inquisitor Aimon Fenmeron, inquisitor of and acting prosecutor for the Peltarch Magistracy, has leveled the following charges against certain members of the so-called "Golden Geese", namely Isolde Garibaldi, Reyhenna Jorino, and George Longcloak:
1.11: Harboring a Criminal - Knowingly aiding a person who has committed a crime is a violation of the law.
Recommended Sentence: Up to or including the maximum penalty for the crime commited by the person being harbored.1.12: Aiding and Abetting a Criminal - Helping a person escape from prosecution is a violation of the law.
Recommended Sentence: Up to 10 years1.13: Obstructing Justice - Failing to help in the apprehension of a criminal by concealing evidence or information.
Recommended Sentence: Up to 5 yearsThe charges are premised upon the alleged involvement by the accused in an alleged cover-up in the attempted smuggling into the city by House Bravickus of illegal necromantic weaponry, as well as, according to rumor, and among other allegations:
- concealing criminal and treasonous activity of allies and benefactor (apparently, House Bravickus), if not directly engaged in the same as co-conspirators;
- obstructing the investigation of a Peltarch inquisitor;
- withholding relevant information from a Peltarch inquisitor;
- deliberately misrepresenting, withholding, or fabricating facts in response to questions posed by a Peltarch inquisitor.
There were rumors that charges may be levied also against Salin Ashald, but it seems the Inquisitor refrained from charging the Ashald Lord.
Inquisitor Fenmeron will act as prosecutor. His findings of fact will be presented in court to Magistrate Vlana Borodin during the hearing, which is expected to be scheduled by the Magistrate in the following two ten-days.

Rey interjects, perhaps with mild affront.
"Screw Halbrook, he's political arsenic, I'll provide the paperwork."
-
"Oh, I can probably have Halbrook sign off on my 'official' involvement if need be. In fact, I'll go ask real nice!~"
-
@karnivor technically, since you're working directly with Defenders on Peltarch official business, it could be considered that you're acting as an asset on behalf of the city, your personal motivations notwithstanding. As such, you'd have similar obligations of secrecy as the other defenders. Would be nice if you could get a written document or a testimony from a high ranking officer to attest to that, by the way. As for what the inquisitor thinks he knows, that's irrelevant. And if we need to disclose anything, it'll be things that the Defenders should know anyway. What we have to stress, is that these accusations wouldn't have been placed on you had the inquisitor done his job properly.

"Mm, I am in fact ~not~ under anyone's employ, though this doesn't alter the gist of your letter as such. I'm just telling you, in case he should nitpick. He seems the type! As this is an active case in the line of my professional work though, I think I have good reason not to go spilling beans left and right anyway.
I would expect he thinks he knows something about the Drow we questioned upon our first visit to the Bravickius household - held behind bars, but part of a group that ... let's say habitually collect upon old debts of said House. We established this group had no ties to the Drow reported to be lurking underneath the city, and that they knew nothing of the black steel, nor did we reveal that said goods existed. Gom did charge Rey with investigating the Drow issue too, as it happens, but my bet is that our dear Inquisitor will try to tie us either to this 'enemy' or the Autonomists. I'd prefer to not reveal the Drow affair unless directly pressed, however, as it's highly possible the Bravickius' family face direct threat if it should be revealed they're dealing with such creatures. And even more acute threat if they should cease to pay off their old debts."

Salin scribbles the mentioned addendum Alright, here it is. Anything further? Isolde, George?
Inquisitor Fenmeron accosted Reyhenna Jorino, Isolde Garibaldi, and George Longcloak, for an informal conversation outside the Dancing Mermaid inn, whereupon he began questioning about the matters relegated to the accusation against these persons. Multiple times was he told that the setting he chose for the inquiry was inadequate given the current dangers that lurk within the city, and multiple times was it suggested a different setting be chosen for answering any questions that the inquisitor deemed necessary. In any moment did the accused withheld information they were at liberty to disclose from the inquisitor. The accused are under the direct employ of the Peltarch military, and as such have access to classified information that is not meant to be shared in such a public location.
In fact, the Peltarch Military code specifically punishes unauthorized disclosure of information, so had the accused divulged the information requested by the Inquisitor in these terms, they would be breaking military law.
Had the Inquisitor followed the proper channels, this situation would not have happened.Further, his line of enquiry strayed very far from the breath of knowledge that the accused are obliged to have, namely the intentions and actions of House Bravickus, which the accused are not privvy to, nor are they expected to be.
Which is to say that the current accusations of obstruction of justice, withholding information and fabrication of facts are, frankly, preposterous and show immense irresponsibility from your inquisitor in regards to such sensitive matters, as he was repeatedly told.
I am unaware of what Inquisitor Fenmeron wrote in his report, but the reality is that his blatant disregard of even such basic notions of security shows that he is not at all concerned with the safety of Peltarch's people, which is among the highest duties anyone in the legal profession has to observe.
Therefore, I respectfully request your honor order Inquisitor Fenmeron redo his inquiry, this time following the proper channels and ensuring the privacy of the information to be collected.

"Looks good to me, Salin. I'd go a step further and note that it would have been completely illegal for George or I to have answered many of the Inquisitor's questions, especially those pertaining to the PDCDS."
Reyhenna furnishes anyone unfamiliar with them a copy of the Peltarch Military Code.

Salin requests a meeting with the Geese in a secured location, and shows them all a draft of a letter:
Alright guys, I'm going to start prepping for the trial. Tell me if any of this is false, and tell me exactly what we do know about this stuff that we didn't disclose to the inquisitor.
