    Violet Tealeaf

How did the scion of one of Narfell's largest and most honorable hin families fall into the clutches of the Court of Sorrows? No one singular tragedy is responsible for the fall and rise of Violet Mint Tealeaf. She wasn't born into a life of poverty, nor was she orphaned and robbed of hope in any great way. Violet was even named after two of the more highly honored Tealeafs in family history in hopes she would do her combined namesakes proud.

Instead, Violet's descent into sanguine immortality is a story of a perfect storm of countless bad decisions and emotional neglect. There's no shortage of blame to go around.

Violet was born to loving parents who trying to leverage the Tealeaf family's high reputation to build a trading coster. A reputation built on the backs of its more famous family members. Violet's parents weren't bad people, but building a trading coster from scratch meant they were often very busy people and not always the most attentive parents.

Since building a trading coster meant her parents were traveling merchants, Violet grew up on the road away from the rest of her larger extended family. Since she was also an only child, a not so common of occurrence in the larger Tealeaf clan, Violet was left to her own devices more often than not.

By itself, that would never have guaranteed that Violet's life took the dark path it did. It did, however, magnify Violet's penchant for getting into trouble and aided in how she fell through the safety net a large family like the Tealeafs affords many of its children. She fell under the notice of those who could have and should have taken the young hin under their wing and corrected her course.

Upon reaching adolescence, Violet fell in with all the wrong people. Searching for a sense of belonging as many children in their teens are want to do, Violet was drawn into the Church of Shar. By the time her parents took note, and called in the extended Tealeaf family for an intervention, it was just too late. Violet walked away and out their lives.

Through acquaintances in Shar's Peltarchian flock, Violet was first brought into the Court of Sorrows as a mortal servant. She didn't even know who she was working for at the time.

Over time, Violet impressed her unseen masters with her penchant for violence and getting results. Then one fateful night she was invited to meet Court of Sorrows Sherrif, Galen. The rest is history.

Violet now serves the Court of Sorrows as Scourge, a title bestowed onto her by her sire, Galen. Her job is to enforce the Sheriff's punishments on those too unimportant for the Sheriff to take care of personally or of the Sheriff is busy with matters of Court that require more immediate attention.

As a kindred, Violet has truly embraced the depths of Shar's shadows. Having lived as one of the kindred for years now, it's also difficult to not see the kine for what they are. Cute, but tasty little animals that need care and kindred supervision. And when those cute little mortal rabbits become troublemakers in the eyes of the court or she finds one sick and injured, she brings the sad but necessary mercy of showing them Shar's soothing gift of Absence. Violet is a subject other Tealeafs prefer not to discuss.
