Reconnaissance & Intelligence Report 01D
To: Captain Justine Lamar, Norwick Scouts
From: Salina Datson
Date/Time of Operation: 13th Kythorn, Post-Noon
Location: South of the Flowering WoodsPrimary Objective
Reconnoiter the area from which Doomguide patrols were ambushed.
Locate possible subterranean root system suffering from corruption - possible necromancy at play.
Terrain & Route Analysis
We journeyed south beyond the Flowering Wood, through thickets and into an ancient subterranean hallow.
Threat Assessment
Hostile presence encountered:
- Ambush by goblin forces - arcanists - jolters
- Several parties of undead - heavily armed & armoured - priests
- Unseen 3rd party - possibly vampire
- Ghoul Lord & retinue of undead - possibly Granzt, servant of Ombretta(?)
-Goblin ambush defeated
-Several formations of undead soldiery destroyed
-Ghoul Lord & retinue destroyed
-Multiple friendly casualtiesIntelligence Assessment
Following intelligence retrieved from the undead Doomguide attack (ref: Report 01C), we proceeded to the Temple of Kelemvor to retrieve additional details. After further ambushes on Doomguide patrols, we triangulated the probable location of the source of the attacks, south of the Flowering Woods.
After dealing with a volatile goblin ambush along the way, on our arrival we found the location deeply compromised by undead enemies. After engaging several groups successfully, we located a subtereanean cavern guarded by some manner of forest spirit in the form of a large ethereal bear. Ambassador Auli'i was able to negotiate passage, and it permitted us entry to the location it was evidently charged with guarding.
Delving into the caverns and passages, we briefly encountered an unseen voice which forewarned us about the Ghoul Lord ahead, and provided a 'tip' as to the location of Ombretta Piccolo - the Midden Bazaar was her last known destination.
Upon entering the final sanctum, we were as one assailed with memories of the place's past. It was evidently once a place of sacred import to the Druidic circles of the area, a location of ritual and repose for their dead, returning them to the roots of the Rawlinswood. Likely, this very holy import is what drew the Ghoul Lord there, for it was in this chamber we located him and his undead retinue.
A terrible battle ensued, with many of us falling to the unholy strength of his hammer. We destroyed him. We destroyed his retinue. We brought his body back to town to be incinerated. We brought our own dead back to be restored to life by the light of the Morninglord.
On his person I recovered the following:
- A strange tome, likely unholy in nature, requires additional study
- A holy symbol of the Black Hand - destroyed
We also retrieved the body of a long dead Druid, which the Ghoul Lord had been in the process of desecrating. We intend to return it to the local druids for proper resanctification and interment.

Reconnaissance & Intelligence Report 01C
To: Captain Justine Lamar, Norwick Scouts
From: Salina Datson
Date/Time of Operation: 7th Kythorn, Pre-Dusk
Location: NorwickPrimary Objective
Repel Undead Assassinations.
Terrain & Route Analysis
We were just sitting around in town!
Threat Assessment
Hostile presence encountered:
- Four Undead Doomguide Knights - split in 2 groups of 2
-All undead destroyed
Intelligence Assessment
Following exploration efforts, we were relaxing around the fire outside the Mithral Mug when two Doomguides walked by. Another two then arrived and attacked us - it became swiftly clear they were undead.
Realizing the previous two were likely also compromised, we followed them into the Scout's Office, and destroyed them before they could assassinate Captain Lamar.
On the body of one, we retrieved the following:
- Orders & a Map detailing the patrol's last location in life
We intend to retrace their steps and locate the ones responsible for slaying the Doomguides, once the remaining patrols return with additional intelligence.

Reconnaissance & Intelligence Report 01B
To: Captain Justine Lamar, Norwick Scouts
From: Salina Datson
Date/Time of Operation: 30th of Mirtul, Pre-dawn
Location: Southern CavePrimary Objective
Investigate the area for signs of Enemy fugitives:
-
Divine Soul - Female - Striking Appearance - Possible Cleric - Ranking Officer
-
The Artificer - Female - Dressed in Black - Chain Markings - Seen Among Goblins
-
Unknown Servant - Male - Unnatural - Possible Undead
Local ranger, Harmony Ashfoot, sold us credible intelligence on the location of the Artificer.
Terrain & Route Analysis
We journeyed west into the Fens to locate the Castle, a redoubt currently occupied by the Adventurer's League.
Threat Assessment
Hostile presence encountered:
- Local Woewood flora
- Goblinoid forces - standard assortment
- Troglodyte forces - acidic/volatile 'molting' troglodytes - arcanely talented troglodytes
-A number of goblins cut down
-A swathe of troglodytes cut downIntelligence Assessment
We finally encountered the Artificer in person at the League facility and learned much useful intelligence from her.
- Her name is Sophie de Wittigis
- The Divine Soul is named Ombretta Piccolo
- Ombretta Piccolo likely has a number of officers still active in her service - likely including the unseen (possible) necromancer encountered in Report 01A
- De Wittigis has used her unusual talents to create a prototype blade capable of severing a victim's connection to their deity - this prototype was destroyed when she was ambushed by the Worg Druid Harek, but he was wounded during the effort and his wound proved the blade's effectiveness by severing his connection to the Beast Lord
- De Wittigis is working on creating another such blade, with the express intention of using it on Ombretta Piccolo
- De Wittigis was held captive by the Enemy, and took no part in the invasion or occupation of Norwick - she escaped during the confusion when the war turned against the invaders
- De Wittigis also warned that Piccolo would not be content to simply remain in hiding - she is a servant of the Black Hand and will intend to strike back against Norwick using the weapon most favoured by her kind: Fear
My personal determination is that based on the above findings, De Wittigis should no longer be classified as an enemy agent going forward. She has expressed willingness to cooperate in the apprehension of Ombretta Piccolo. I recommend we take full advantage of this.

Reconnaissance & Intelligence Report 02A
To: Captain Justine Lamar, Norwick Scouts
From: Salina Datson
Date/Time of Operation: 2nd of Kythorn, Dusk
Location: Northern Cave NetworkPrimary Objective
Investigate the area for signs of suspicious activity:
- Local ranger, Mivilith Nightstar, reported possible clandestine activities in the caverns north of (and beneath) Norwick
Terrain & Route Analysis
We travelled North to the cave entrance just past the path that led to Spellweaver Keep, then through the cavern network back south until we were below the center of town. Finally, I tracked a third underground route from below town to the east until I came to a deadbolted doorway and had to withdraw via recall.
Threat Assessment
Hostile presence encountered:
- Local insect fauna - giant ants of various sizes - workers - soldiers - juvenile Queens
- Human smugglers - several males - one female (arcanist) - armed and trained combatants -
very rude & unpleasant - Hobgoblins - several fighters - several archers (note: dangerous in groups) - assisting the Smugglers
- One Bugbear - trained combatant - possibly leading the demi-human contingent?
-Several Ants slain, but no dent made in their overall numbers.
-At least 4 human Smugglers slain after hostilities proved inevitable
-Several hobgoblins slain
-One Bugbear slain -possibly Ostromog (extremely unlikely)Intelligence Assessment
Drusilla, Mivilith and I proceeded through the caverns based off a 'hunch' the ranger had about clandestine dealings. We encountered three human smugglers who purported to be adventurers, but bade us to turn back and not proceed further into the caverns. As we proceeded regardless, they made to attack us, so we eliminated them.
We then proceeded until we were roughly beneath the center of town, where we located the suspected leader of the previous smuggler group who was either dealing with or assisted by a group of demihumans - hobgoblins & one bugbear whom I believe Drusilla mistook for Ostromog. (Sidenote: I think Ostromog, if still alive, would be unlikely to be engaged in a lemon smuggling operation).
After defeating the smuggler and his demihuman allies/accomplices, we confiscated two barrels containing 1) Bolts of silk & luxury fabrics, 2) a bar of silver and 3) a lot of Lemons. Given recent taxation changes from the Chancellery, my assumption is this smuggling operation was intended to circumvent the costlier legal means of importing such goods.
I have asked Mivilith & Drusilla to deliver the barrels to Town Hall, and included a lemon and bolt of silk along with this report for review.
Stupid things to die for.The fact that the smugglers are working with goblinoid forces is concerning. Will keep this in mind for future excursions.
I was able to track the route the smugglers took to bring in their goods, at least as far as a well-secured doorway to the east which I was unable to circumvent. Likely another way into this location will need to be scouted.

-
Unknown Servant - Male - Unnatural - Possible Undead
Terrain & Route Analysis
We journeyed directly south from town, passing the Temple of Kelemvor, until we picked up a trail which led us to the Cave further south.
Threat Assessment
Hostile presence encountered:
- Local Woewood flora
- Undead of varying types
- Unknown magically proficient foe - invisible - arcane or divine power likely - likely controlling undead - probable Necromancer(?)
-Several undead destroyed by force of arms & divine will of the Crying God.
-Unseen enemy escaped via the cavern's waterway - likely connecting to the lakebed outside
-Several additional undead sighted at the bottom of the waterwayIntelligence Assessment
The unseen enemy - likely a Necromancer - was looking for a woman, and initially suspected she might be among us. Despite having a magical advantage over us, as well as the element of surprise, the enemy chose to withdraw via the water - suggests a cautious attitude - suggests possible undead nature (no need to breath) or magical waterbreathing enchantments.
Speculation: the enemy may be gathering undead unseen on the lakebed, slowly building up force - would explain caution, withdrawal, likely knew we were not equipped to pursue.
Our party alerted the local Kelemvorite faithful who dispatched a party who also failed to apprehend the unseen enemy. They also alerted a local Druid - Nuala - who likewise departed to investigate the lakebed.
